RENEE GOODWIN, PH.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Renee Goodwin has spent over 20 years as a faculty member in epidemiology departments, currently serving as a Professor of Epidemiology and Psychology at the City University of New York, Director of the Substance, Addiction and Mental Health Epidemiology (SAMH) Unit, Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University and Member of Global Psychiatric Epidemiology Group at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
As a substance use and psychiatric epidemiologist, as well as a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Goodwin's work is heavily focused on mental health and substance use. Dr. Goodwin's work has been funded by NIMH, NHLBI, NIDA and NIAAA and she has published over 265 peer-reviewed publications in leading public health, medical, psychology and psychiatry journals and regularly contribute to the broader community via media interviews, editorials, and expert testimony in legislative decision-making.
In 2022, Dr. Goodwin won the Article of the Year award from the American Journal of Preventive Medicine covering the topic of depression and the widening treatment gap. In 2019, Dr. Goodwin was invited to speak in the Presidential Plenary Session to present her innovative work on tobacco and cannabis use at the annual meeting of the College of Problems on Drug Dependence.
